About Mike Breen

Mike Breen is an Arizona-based singer-songwriter and guitarist who launched his musical career in Pennsylvania before relocating to Phoenix. His five CDs and his most recent "Mike Breen And The Big Dream, All Night Long" have been critically lauded. Mike gigs regularly at the Rusty Spur Saloon, and can often be seen performing with his group, Mike Breen and the Big Dream.

About Mike Shellans

Mike Shellans is a professional performer and music educator in the Phoenix area, joining the ASU School of Music in 1985. Shellans received his B.M. in Jazz and Contemporary Media from the University of Arizona in 1979, and his M.M. in Trombone Performance from Arizona State University in 1990. Currently a Senior Lecturer at Arizona State University, Shellans has also taught at Phoenix College, Glendale Community College, Paradise Valley Community College and Grand Canyon University. Shellans has performed on piano or trombone with a wide variety of entertainers, including Bob Hope, The Moody Blues, Henry Mancini, Sammy Davis Jr., George Burns, The Temptations, Wayne Newton, The Four Tops, Gladys Knight, Natalie Cole and The O'Jays. He has also played in pit orchestras for musicals such as Annie, The Sound of Music, Chorus Line, Zorba the Greek, Jesus Christ, Superstar, Oklahoma, The Music Man, Gypsy, My Fair Lady and West Side Story.

Mr. Shellans has taught thirteen different courses to over 48,000 students at ASU, including Jazz in America, Popular Music/Rock and Roll, concert jazz band, arranging, improvisation and jazz piano. Shellans currently teaches Music of the Beatles, Blues to Heavy Metal, Beatles After the Beatles and Elvis Presley, fully online courses that have a total annual enrollment of over 2,000 students. In 1997, Shellans co-authored the book Here To Stay: Rock and Roll Through the '70s, which is now in its third edition, and his second text, Who is the Greatest: Elvis or the Beatles? is now available through the ASU Bookstore and Barnes and Noble.
